Hieroglyph Privacy Policy

Effective 2 October 2026 ยท Applies to the Hieroglyph app for iPhone and iPad

Short version: Hieroglyph does not collect, store or share any personal data. Everything you write is turned into hieroglyphs on your device, and nothing is sent to us or anyone else.

What you write

Names and messages you type, and hieroglyphs you paste into the decoder, are processed entirely on your device. The app works offline and has no servers. We never see, receive or store your text.

No account

Hieroglyph has no sign-up or login and does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal information.

Sharing

When you share a card or copy hieroglyphs, the content goes only where you send it, through the standard iOS share sheet or clipboard. What happens to it after that is governed by the app or service you choose (for example Instagram, WhatsApp or Messages) and its own privacy policy. Saving an image to Photos stores it only in your photo library.

Usage data

Settings includes a "Share usage data" option. In the current version of the app it sends nothing: no analytics, tracking or advertising service is built in. If that ever changes, it would cover only anonymous counts of which features are used, never what you write, and this policy will be updated before such a version is released.

Tracking and advertising

Hieroglyph contains no ads, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not use the advertising identifier.

Children

Because the app collects no personal data, it collects none from children either.

Reviews and support

If you rate the app or leave a review, that goes through Apple's App Store under Apple's privacy policy. If you email us from Settings, the message includes your app version, build, iOS version and device model so we can help; we use your email only to reply.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
